AWANA is a vibrant and growing international organization with the goal of "Helping churches and parents worldwide raise children and youth to know, love and serve Christ." To this end, AWANA International has helped over 17,000 churches in more than 100 countries start their own local AWANA clubs. Ours is one of those clubs, run entirely by members of our church family, but operating within the proven framework and with the huge support structure of AWANA International.
AWANA stands for "Approved Workmen are Not Ashamed" from 2 Timothy 2:15, and a key element of every AWANA club is Bible memorization. Kids are encouraged and helped to learn God's word through innovative activities and exciting awards that they can pin to their club vests like medals of valor worn by our armed forces.
In addition to the Bible memorization, the kids spend time in games, story times, and other exciting activities.
There is a small charge for AWANA to cover the cost of program administration, awards, snacks, etc. Books and "uniforms" are purchased separately. Scholarships are available.
